We’re always looking to discover new-to-us spots in the greater Boston area, and bonus if they’re outdoors where my toddler can get her wiggles out! Nick’s parents are visiting from San Diego, so we went on a little family outing over Mother’s Day weekend to the North Shore.

Tip Top Tulips, Ipswich
These lovely tulip fields in Ipswich were planted by a father and son duo, inspired by the mother of their household. We went to their larger field which has such a nice variety in bloom right now, and they also have a smaller field a short drive away. We went right when they opened in the morning so it wasn’t very busy, with plenty of cute photo spots like little benches and a windmill sprinkled amidst the already very photogenic field. Peak bloom period however is short and sweet, ending in about a week! Admission is $12 for adults + $1 per stem picked.

Marini Farm, Ipswich
On our way home we also made a quick stop by Marini Farm a few minutes away, which had a very bustling garden nursery area and a few farm animals a walk from the garden nursery. There wasn’t much else now aside from that, but during big events like their Strawberry Festival and the fall apple season they have several family friendly activities including hayrides, pony rides and a pirate ship structure for little ones to play on. Apparently they also have an intense 8-acre corn maze in the Fall that takes about 1.5 hours to complete if you’re looking for a unique activity later this year (and a mini maze too, if that one feels too daunting!).

Cherry Farm Creamery, Danvers
If you find yourself driving back toward Boston through Danvers, you’ll have to stop at Cherry Farm Creamery for a cold treat. They have a long list of flavors including frozen pudding, purple cow (raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips and Oreo cookies – yum!) plus dairy free and vegan options too. They also have some seriously indulgent ice cream pies and cakes that I’ve ordered before for a friend’s birthday! If you have any golfers in the group they can hit the driving range on the property while you enjoy your ice cream from one of the nearby picnic tables.

You make this dress look fabulous. And it’s so fun watching Nori grow. Thank you for posting and sharing. I think this is a place you mentioned before. Something about Farm to Table Dinner as I recall, yes?
