Belted Winter Coat Old Navy Petite

ON belted coat xs petite (another oversized look coat stocked in petites), Express mockneck sweater xs and faux leather leggings xs petite, KL booties 5.5 (also here), $15 sunglasses

I’ve been offline most of this week, partially to clear my head and also because my little ones have been wanting a lot of mama’s attention lately. It’s been a while since I’ve done an outfit post, so if you’re up for some regular content, here’s a few finds from recent months that I’ve been very happy with!

1. Oversized belted coat under $100 (also in leopard)

Right now ALL sizes in petite, regular & tall are in stock, so don’t sleep on it if you’ve been looking for a coat like this!

At the top of my wishlist this season was an on-trend, deliberately oversized yet petite-friendly coat. Most of my outerwear is fitted & tailored, so I wanted something that would fit easily over thick layers and look effortless. It was a futile search for months until this one popped online. I was skeptical given the low price point, but turns out this is just what I was looking for!

From my initial few wears, this coat is well worth the retail price and Nick even asked if it was from Club Monaco : ) It’s oversized but with petite-friendly proportions, including shorter sleeves that don’t need alterations. I love how it looks belted, open, as well as draped over the shoulders. “Moon door” is a lovely pale gray-cream with lining and pockets, and the black would also make a chic staple. Again, smaller framed ladies note this is a loose fitting coat, also I currently wear 1 size bigger than I used to pre-pregnancy.

2. Mockneck Dolman Sleeve Sweater

This sweater is another piece that exceeded my expectations, and is a very good deal for the quality when on sale. The material is a medium to thicker weight, and is soft to the touch, smooth against the skin, and warm. The colors are just as pictured online, and I love the versatile slouchier cut with dolman sleeves. Here is another cozy sweater on sale with less of a ribbed texture and tons of color options.

Sweater fits TTS – I got XS for a slightly longer length (hits around crotch length on me) and looser fit, and just need to cuff the sleeve length up once. FYI the mock neck is folded partway down in the majority of my photos here. I didn’t even notice it until later (see pic above for the full mock neck) and like that folding down is an option if you want a slightly lower neckline!

3. Faux Leather Leggings

“Leather” leggings are hands down one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe, with sneakers, boots, flats & heels alike. I love the BP leggings (see on me here) that I got over a year ago and still think those are one of the most flattering options I’ve tried and would recommend. But as mentioned before, the length on those is long so I always wear them tucked under.

If you want a petite-friendly length with no alterations, I finally tried these Express leggings (on sale) and am a fan of the 10″ high rise and shorter 25″ inseam. I sized up to XS petite postpartum, but would definitely suggest your usual size since leather leggings need to be a tight fit. These hit right below my ankle with no hemming needed, though there is a little extra room at the crotch area on me (usually covered by a longer sweater or top). These are also listed as machine washable, while the BP ones I have only hand washed in cold water and hung up to dry.

4. Karl Lagerfeld Booties

Also sold on their own website, where you can keep an eye out for further sales! These are a great staple bootie in suede with a non-suede stacked heel, which is nice since it makes the heel part easy to wipe clean! I love the sleek pointed silhouette and the comfortable lower heel height.

Mine are years old, but I had the chance to compare them with the current version at Saks off 5th in person (extra 40% off right now!), and they are identical except for the tassel on the back zipper.

For me, I have trouble committing to prints that I think I’ll love for a long time (other than leopard – my favorite), so it’s just easier to buy solids and then accessorize with a printed piece like a scarf!

I am the same shoe size as you so I was wondering if you took a size 5 or size 5.5 in this boot and if the current version fits the same as your older pair? Thank you!

  Hi KC – I updated the sizing to 5.5 here because I tried on the current pair and it felt like it ran smaller than the older style I’m wearing. As mentioned, it looked and felt identical (except for the back zipper pull – older version had a tassel and the newer one is a more sleek pull) but a 5.5 in the newer version fits just like my older ones in size 5.
