Mom & me casual fall outfits + Petite Camel Coats

Mommy & Me fall matching fall outfits
On me: Everlane waffle cashmere xxs, J.Crew coat (old; similar), BP leggings xxs hems folded, Veja sneakers 35 (my review), $15 sunglasses // On Nori: Target fleece lined pants 2T, Gap boys sweater 3T, Old Navy coat 3T (2 styles), SKR sneakers (Target version)

Hello friends, I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend! We’re still figuring out our groove as a family of four, so even getting out the door with both babies in a good mood feels like a small accomplishment : ) I wanted to share some casual, cool weather outfits from recent weeks for both me and Nori!

Updated Waffle Cashmere Sweater

Everlane’s waffle cashmere sweater is one of my all time favorites from last year (read my review) that I reached for weekly, so I was stoked to see it back in an updated cut. They even brought back the same taupe color from my prior year posts which is a super versatile neutral. This year’s version is a more oversized, slouchy silhouette (good fit on me in xxs) and is 100% cashmere instead of a cashmere / wool blend in past years.

Current Camel Coat Options

My coat is old J.Crew, but below are a few camel & tan colored coats currently available!

  1. Affordable Pick: J.Crew Factory coat (6 colors) in 00 petite & regular
  2. Blazer Coat: Abercrombie wool blend coat in xxs petite, regular & tall
  3. Double Breasted Topcoat: J.Crew camel coat in petite, regular, tall (I’d size up on this for layering)
  4. Single Breasted: Abercrombie wool blend Dad coat in xxs petite, regular & tall
  5. Lighter Beige Belted: H&M wool blend coat starting in xxs petite
  6. Double Faced Darker Camel: Banana Republic unlined top coat in petite & regular

Another variation of my “uniform” lately: mock neck sweater, leather leggings, long outer layer!

H&M little girls outfits

On me: Gap dress (similar in affordable cashmere), J.Crew sneakers 5 //On Nori: H&M 2 piece set 2T, See Kai Run sneakers 6 (Target version), hair clip set

My Petite-Friendly Baby Carriers (my review)

Our two baby carriers from when Nori was little have been more than handy this time around! I find myself using them much more than before to get things done around the house, and also since big sister is now asking for a little more attention and this is the only way I can have my hands free.

See my review on both our structured, petite-friendly BabyBjorn mini carrier (pictured aboce) as well as my soft Solly wrap (pictured below). If I had to choose just one I would go with the structured Babybjorn Mini carrier that dads can also use, plus it’s easier and quicker to put on and get baby in & out of.

New England fall family outings
On me: Gap sweater dress (similar), Sperry flats, Etsy mask & headband, Solly baby wrap (my review) // On Nori: H&M dress 2T, Hunter boots 7, Zara baby sweater (old)
Parlee Farms fall family photos

  1. Hi Jean, How does the Everlane ReCashmere waffle sweater from this year compare to last year’s in terms of feel and itchiness now that it’s 100% recycled cashmere? (BTW, last year’s similar sweater is a blend of recycled cashmere and wool, not poly. I own the same sweater and also wear it often.)

Thanks for pointing that out! It feels incredibly similar to be honest when I compare. The cut is definitely different and slouchier in fit, but my body has changed a bit since last year so I for one prefer the updated cut!

    Hi Jean,
I’ve been following you for about for years now and I have to say – I am endlessly inspired by your timeless style. This camel coat is gorgeous and I am on the hunt for my own! Winter in New England is upon us and it’s time for me to try out a new coat style ha-ha.

Hi, my request is a bit unrelated to this post. I wanted to see if you have any recommendations for outerwear for outdoor activities like hiking or jogging? I have sports bras and tops but need some petite friendly outerwear to use on top. Thanks.

Hi Christina, I would recommend Patagonia or Uniqlo!

Hi Jean! How do you wash those faux leather leggings? I have the same ones from Bp, but they say spot clean only. Would handwashing in the sink work? Thank you!

Hi guys! I have shared on IG stories that I wash them inside out, hand wash cold in the sink and then clip up over my shower to hang dry. You really do not need to wash them often just like leather leggings … whenever I spill something on the outer surface it wipes right off with a slightly damp cloth or paper towel.

I just got a camel coat from Uniqlo. Fits me very well in the shoulders and sleeves, but seems a bit long. I notice some of your coats in this post are above the knee (my preference, at 5’1″ and shrinking) and some are at or below the knee. I’ve never gotten a coat tailored for length, but am thinking about it. Just don’t know if it might look odd with the positioning of the pockets. Anyway, the Uniqlo seems be be a great coat for the price and I like it a lot. Though some of that may be because I’ve had to return 3 camel coats in the last 2 weeks because they didn’t come close to fitting right. I did order the sunglasses from your link above. I have a hard time finding ones that fit my small face. Thanks so much for your blog.

Hi B – Yes I tend to find Uniqlo outerwear (except the lightweight down puffers) to be quite long and oversized. I wish they’d make two lengths since I do like the look of the styles! Hope you like the sunglasses!

I’m still looking for a good sweater dress; the option you linked looks cute. I’ve never come across this brand, do you have any experience with it? And perhaps a referral code? Thanks!

Hi Christina, I haven’t tried that brand before but came across it online and was very intrigued! I read a bunch of the reviews and it seems to be good, but I’ll share an update if I do order.
