Everlane outfit 2 ways (sneakers vs heels)

Today’s outfit is one that can easily be tweaked for work (at a less formal office) vs. a more casual weekend look by swapping out the shoes – see below! And as an additional layer to tie everything together, I have been loving my long camel drape trench (reviewed here) which works perfectly in both variations of this outfit.

I also wanted to share fit reviews on a few newer pieces from Everlane. As a reminder, they offer free shipping on orders of 2 or more items, and convenient returns (free in-person at a Happy Returns location near you or Everlane store, or $6 for a return shipping label).

1. The Court Sneaker
Pictured in off white/fog, size 5.

I raved about these on IG as soon as they arrived, but now that I’ve had a chance to wear them for a while, I can confirm they feel great off the bat with no breaking in needed. The leather feels soft and cushy while on trend. The style is quite versatile and I’ve already tried them on with skinny, cropped, and boyfriend jeans, as well as denim shorts, leggings and even dresses (see here). They remind me of another sustainability-focused brand but are notably more comfy! Fit wise, they run a little big for me, as I’m usually between size 5 and 5.5. in most brands, and needed the size 5 in this particular style.

2. Slim crop pants (in Short, Regular, or Full Length)
Pictured in Sandstone size 00 Short, hems cuffed up.
Everlane’s cropped high rise chino pants come in three leg cuts – slim, straight, and wide leg. I’ve tried on all three, and on a petite 5′ tall frame, I feel the “slim” fits me more like a straight, the “straight” fits me like a subtle wide leg, and the “wide leg” was simply not flattering on me. The material on all these pants is a medium to thicker weight twill-like fabric (97% cotton, 3% elastane), which I like in the slim and straight cuts but not so much the wide (for wide pants on petites, I prefer a lighter weight drapey fabric).

Fit wise, the waist of a size 00 in these pants felt comparable to the waist on Everlane’s size 25 high rise denim (keep in mind that cotton may shrink a little if you plan on machine drying). The cropped inseam in “Short” is still not quite short enough to be a cropped look on someone my height, so I’ve cuffed these up. Measurements of 00 Short: 13″ across the waist, 10.25″ rise, 24.25″ inseam, 6.25″ across the ankle opening.

3. Mesh Soft Cotton Crew
Pictured in Praline, size XS.
This is a 100% cotton textured layering piece that I’ve paired here over a long sleeve striped tee, but will be sporting over a cami in the spring and even as a swimsuit cover up with denim cutoff shorts in the summer. I tried on my usual xxs which was a shrunken fit on me, and for a sweater like this I would like a slightly relaxed fit so went one size up.

4. Authentic stretch high-rise skinny jean (in Ankle, Regular, or Tall)
Tried on in Distressed Mid Blue, 24 Ankle.
This is the same familiar, flattering high rise cut as the grey jeans I’ve been living in over the past year, but in a newer color with a very slightly distressed finish and frayed hem ankles. Compared to my grey pair (I cut the hems with scissors), the newer Distressed Mid Blue wash in Ankle sizing has a slightly shorter 25″ inseam the may fit better on petites with no adjustments or cutting.

I love your outfits but how do you keep the sneakers so clean and white? I’ve been too afraid to wear white sneakers for fear that I would not be able to keep them clean.

Thank you Susan! Whenever my white sneakers get a bit dirty I just use a bit of laundry detergent mixed with warm water to wipe them clean

Hi Jean! I’m in between deciding on the Everlane slim vs. straight leg crop pants. I’m 5 ft and about 105 pounds. I’m worried the straight leg may look too wide and not proportional for my body. Would you recommend it over the slim leg crop for a more relaxed fit?

Hi Amy! I don’t think the straight leg will look too wide on your frame, however, I personally found that for the straight leg cut to look ideal it needed to be 2-3″ shorter on a 5′ tall wearer. I was able to cuff the slim crop hem up (like in these photos) but cuffing up the straight crop hem did not look as good. Not sure if you were planning on getting your pants hemmed or not but wanted to point that out.

Hi Jean! Love the look of the mesh cotton crew. I noticed that you also modeled the cotton linen crew a few posts back, which one do you prefer and which one do you think will wear better over time?
