One of the best fitting petite jeans

whbm petite grey jeans review

I first reviewed WHBM’s “Sculpt” jeans in this post a few months ago, and they’ve since become a top selling reader favorite on here! I’ve gotten so many happy messages from those of you who’ve tried these jeans, and was hoping WHBM would come out with non-distressed options that can be worn to offices, too. I’m here to report they now have several new washes in both straight and flare styles with no distressing, including a versatile solid black color that’s on sale!

Fabric & Fit

Compared to other jeans I own, these are made of a stretchy “sculpting” denim with a slim fit along the legs and finished hems, while my Topshop jeans in 25 are rigid non-stretch denim with a looser leg fit and raw cut hems. Compared to my J.Crew classic straight jeans in 24 petite, the WHBM also fit noticeably more slim throughout and with more stretch. I like the variety of different fabrication and fits, so it just depends on what you’re looking for!

These WHBM petite jeans are listed as “high rise,” but I measured the rise to be 9 inches and find the fit on me to be more medium-high rise. I wanted to point this out as several of you have mentioned that you have shorter torsos or just don’t like jeans with super high rises.

The backside of these is also very lifting even on my flatter bum – see pic at the bottom of this post!

Length

Another aspect I love is that these jeans are a flattering length on me worn with both flats or sneakers, without any hemming needed. They also have a finished hem, which are best suited for office wear over raw cut hems. Some Sculpt jeans are full length while others are cropped, so make sure to check the listed inseam, keeping in mind that the exact measurement will vary from size to size. The two pairs I’m wearing here have a listed inseam of 25 inches but actually measure 24.25″ and hit perfectly at the ankles on my 5′ tall frame.

Sizing

I would say these run TTS to slightly more fitted than some other brands, but those who have these can feel free to chime in! For my first pair I got size 00 petite but my size has been fluctuating and the legs started feeling snug on me. I ended up getting the Newell Ant wash in one size up (0P) for my currently 25″ waist.

Color options

Below I’m wearing the jeans in “Newell Ant” which is a nice medium blue with slight vintage tones, and at the top of this post I have on “Obsidian B,” a washed grey. Again they also have this classic solid black wash on sale which I got last year and reach for often for both casual and smart casual outfits.

I just ordered a pair of each of these jeans. What casual boots would you suggest to go with them? I love your site and have found so many helpful items. I tell all of my petite friends about you.

Do you like these WHBM jeans better than the Madewell ones? Those fit really well on me too as someone that’s 4’11

I actually don’t currently own any Madewell jeans yet, but I look forward to trying them!

Would you be able to share thoughts on the H&M slingbacks? I don’t wear heels very often but have been looking for a neutral pair to have when I need them. There were some negative reviews about fit and the back strap not being secure enough and I’m wondering what your experience has been. Thanks!

I didn’t have any issue with the back strap but since they only have whole sizes, it’ll of course depend on your foot size and shape and what size you get! The quality is what you would expect for the price point but I’ve worn them around the city several times and I really haven’t found anything else with a sleek shape and V-cut front like these.

    Hi Jean!
I love the lighter wash in these! Jeans are so tricky these days – nothing seems quite right. The Banana Republic ones had a huge waist gap on me, so they went back. These look better, I suppose I’d have to try the 00p, but I love the way the 0p’s look on you! I wish waistbands were easier to alter lol. I LOVE the look with the white jacket – looking fabulous Jean!!

Hi April, thank you for your kind words! I agree that jeans are especially tricky to find. If the BR ones were big in the waist then a 00p in these WHBM jeans should work!
