Petite-Friendly Picks Under $50 // LOFT Try-ons

loft petite try on cardigan tunic sweater

LOFT tunic xxs petite, cascade cardigan xsp, similar leggings, leopard booties (my review)

For today’s post I’m partnering with LOFT, a brand that I’ve been a longtime fan of for their very inclusive sizing (I’m talking everyday clothing, maternity, AND sleepwear each available in petite, regular, and plus!). They’re having a big sale right now, and I’ve highlighted a few picks that stood out amongst my many try-ons that are avail. in both petite & regular sizing. Also check my IG stories today as I’ll be posting some fit videos of these recommendations!

sale Picks under $50

When I published this post, each of these were available starting in xxs / 00 petite, and also come in regular:

  1. Cowl Neck tunic ($27) – Pictured above. A staple, lighter weight tunic sweater that is proportioned for petite ladies, with a crotch & butt-covering hem length and sleeves that I don’t have to push up.
  2. Sequin Pencil Skirt ($42) – See try on below. This is So pretty!! Each holiday season I get requests for petite-friendly sequin skirts, and there has been a major shortage of good ones the past few years. This piece is worth picking up for special occasions down the road. It has beautiful champagne, blush, and silver tones, and pairs easily with either a silky cami for evening or a cream sweater for a festive cozy look. Sizing runs TTS for LOFT bottoms, so fits a little big on me around the waist (00P measures 13″ across waist, 17″ across hips with no stretch and full lining).
  3. Dotted wrap dress 00P (final sale; $17 from $89) – See try on below. A light to medium weight dress in a crepe-like material that’s a true wrap style, and is nursing friendly with a snap button at the chest. Fit was very petite friendly on me.
  4. Spotted puff shoulder blouse ($18 from $59) – See try on below. Versatile piece for work to weekend wear. This is a fluid-feeling fabric but is weightier than LOFT’s usual drapey blouses with a little more structure. The sleeves have a banded button cuff, and the shoulders have a slightly gathered feminine puff.
  5. Ruffle Hem Sweater Dress (final sale; $17 from $89) – deep blue sweater dress that I’d style with a black waist belt

Additional Items on Promo

Through this Thursday (tomorrow), LOFT is also having a discount on full-price sweaters, coats, and a few other categories including new arrival pieces! I’ve broken these items out into this separate section, as pricing on these may go back up to full price after the promo ends.

  • Diamond cable sweater – See try on above. A classic, and one of the best sweaters from my try-ons in a warm, medium to thicker weight. Great cable detail all around and ribbed hems (not shown in my photo below). No petite sizing, but regular xxs when untucked hits me at the hips and isn’t too long.
  • Tapered pull on ponte pant – See try on above. Had to try these on after reading the rave reviews, and I must say I hope they will bring back more colors in petite. I live for a good pull-on stretch pant that feels like sweats but still looks polished enough to wear in more relaxed business casual office settings. These are medium weight, with a slightly tapered ankle cut, mid-rise covered wide elastic waistband, flattering pleating detail on the front, and pockets!
  • Petite pajamas – A forgotten category by most retailers! These are an online exclusive and 50% off.

Jean, All the outfits are lovely. I, especially love the way you have paired the tunic sweater and long cardigan. This is a great idea and look. Thank you for the fashion suggestions. The outfits you show us looks better on you than the models. This give me a better look of how flattering these pieces can be on. Very helpful.

That cascade cardigan looks so good on you! I checked the website and their stock photo doesn’t make it look as stylish as you do! Thanks for sharing all of your picks – I love getting ideas for business/business casual but also casual outfits.

I love shopping at the Loft! Except, a few sweaters I bought just last year look so bad from pilling. I realize it may be from the high percentage of acrylic. I’ve tried using a fuzz remover, but it didn’t work.

Hey jean, I checked ur website last night and it said it was 50% but this morning I checked and it’s only 40% off now. Is there anyway they can grant the 50% up until today?

Hi Joy and Wendy (below)! They are from WHBM petites. I got them a couple years ago but they often have similar styles.

    Hi Jean,

If you have an opportunity, please provide feedback to Ann Taylor Loft on behalf of Canadian shoppers.

I love your reccomendations, especially the styles and price on this post, however, the deals are nowhere as good in Canada or on the Canadian website. Eg. 5 items were $137 USD ($185 CAD with conversion) vs. 4 items were $250 CAD (the 5th item wasn’t even available on the Canadian website).

I attempted a loophole , trying to make a purchase via the US website, shipping to a US PO Box (to be picked-up later). Unfortunately, the transaction could not process without a USA credit card or a US zip code via Paypal.

Needless to say, I’m a bit frustrated and disappointed I can’t take part of this sale, and wasted my time chasing this sale down a rabbit hole.

I know you have a strong Canadian following, I thought I’d share my experience. Thanks for listening!

Hi Sarah, I’m sorry to hear – that’s super frustrating! I have gotten this feedback from Canadian shoppers before (for several brands) and have definitely raised this before with companies including LOFT & AT. Unfortunately there’s not much I can do outside of bubbling it back up to their attention because they are definitely aware (several brands say sku’s offered and pricing is based separately on each country’s market and demand). The pricing discrepancy between countries is common and similar to how when I shop at Topshop online as a U.S. customer the prices are much higher than for the UK. Again I know that’s frustrating and appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback!
