Happy Wednesday! This is a laid-back outfit from our recent travels that I loved and felt really comfortable in. I can’t wait to share all about these jeans in an upcoming post, but below are some details and info about the other pieces! Since I usually have a baby glued to my torso these days, soft fabrics are a plus, and this cardigan/top is oh so cozy to the touch. The buttons also make it nursing-friendly … so win-win!
1. Cozy button-up top
It’s hard to tell in photos, but this top has a soft fleeced feel to it, like a lightweight sweater. The cut is on the wider side and tapers in from the armholes down to the hem (perfect for a casual chic half tuck). The shoulders are slightly dropped in style and the ribbed sleeves are slimmer in fit. When worn by itself the neckline is on the low side, so I’d layer a cami or nursing tank underneath!
2.Lace Trim Camisole
A good lace cami is surprisingly versatie, and these have adjustable shoulder straps which help ensure a good fit. The clipdot cami I’m wearing has a lightweight textured dot outer layer, and a full lining underneath. Cut is A-line and more flowy, with sz xxs measuring 16″ across the underarms. I also tried on the satiny lace cami, which is a little more elegant (see how I’ve styled satin camisoles here and here).
For mamas asking if these lace camis are nursing friendly, it takes a little maneuvering. I first loosen up a strap, then wiggle the strap off my shoulder to nurse one side at a time. As for undergarments, I usually wear my Bristols 6 nippies (I wash ’em after each use). Or if I know I’ll be keeping my cardigan on all day, I’ll just wear a regular bra or nursing bra with straps!
3. Convertible mini bag
Leatherology reached out about their new convertible Willow clutch, and I’ve been slightly obsessed ever since it arrived! I had been looking for a large wallet / small bag that fits my phone, keys, credit cards, and this has been perfect for that purpose. It has one large zippered pocket, several card slots inside, plus a large back pocket that fits my iPhone.
There are several strap options (each sold separately), but my favorites might be the wristlet and belt bag styles for hands-free #momlife. I thought I would also love their cross-body strap, but to be honest, it looked a little thick for a bag this small. I might try one of my long chain straps from another purse for a different look!
The leather on the Ivory is softer and smoother than I expected (I should spray it with a leather protectant) so I think one of their more pebbled leathers may be easier to maintain. I got hand painted shadow letters which is a bit pricey, but they also offer a standard smaller monogram option for less. UPDATE July 2020: I never got around to spraying this bag with leather protectant and have been using it fairly regularly, and it’s held up great!
I’ve also been following your blog for quite a few years now. It is so helpful for petite women who are wanting to look stylish yet classy. For the person who posted the classless comment: most people would just move on to another site if they were dissatisfied with what was being posted and not comment in such a negative way. You need to focus on your inner beauty first and then perhaps revisit working on your outer beauty.
Hi Jean. I’ve been looking at these jeans for forever but am not quite sure what to expect on the fit. They look looser on you than your other usual pants but I saw you said you thought it was true to size. I have the Everlane Modern Boyfriend Jeans. They are really loose but look similar to this pair on you. Are these meant to be looser or am I misunderstanding the fit?
Hi Nina – these are a kick crop jean so they are meant to be slim but non skinny, and flare out slightly at the bottom. They are looser in the leg when compared to my skinny jeans, however the high-rise waist is very fitted across which I think is what keeps it flattering even on a short frame! I have not tried the modern boyfriend unfortunately so can’t compare.
I have bought from Leatherology in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of their products! This clutch you chose is beautiful and I bet the leather feels so buttery soft!

Hi Vicky! I tried on this same jean in two colors and both ran differently unforutnately. But for this light blue color, I found it to run true to size but note it’s a fitted, snug high waist style with minimal stretch at the waist. I take 24 in most brands and a 24 in this one fit perfectly.

thank you! It’s Kat Von D lolita liquid lipcolor which has wonderful lasting power. It’s very pigmented though so I apply lip balm and then use my finger to lightly apply some of the liquid lipcolor over it.
I really like that bag ! Does the back pocket for your phone have a zipper or is it open ? Where have you gotten other chains to use with your smaller purses? Thanks!
Hi C – the back pocket is open, so if I were swinging it around with the wristlet strap, I’d be afraid of my phone falling out. If I’m wearing it as a belt bag or holding onto the bag like a clutch, then I don’t mind keeping my phone in the back. I have an old Zara bag that came with a chain strap, but I’m sure you could probably find a chain purse strap on eBay or something!

Hi Lauren, yes I tried two pairs and didn’t love them. I tried their white skinny which unfortunately wasn’t as fitted throughout the leg as I’d like. I also tried on this same kick crop cut in the white color but the waist ran much bigger in the white than the light blue color so they unfortunately didn’t fit!

Hi Mong! It’s a small snap button closure. And hmm.. I haven’t really thought about those bags in the same vein, since I use this one pretty casually. For example, I now take the Leatherology clutch while running using the wristlet strap which I would never do with the Chanel or YSL bags! Size-wise, it’s similar and maybe a little smaller than those designer bags.
Love the purse! Are the initials white with a blush shadow color?

Ah, I think it’s ok to choose the prettiest pictures for a fashion blog, I am not here to look for how frumpy I can look, want to be inspired though honestly I don’t have the time for makeups nor matching my bags with my clothes I’ve bought some pieces that were featured and generally like them. One request is to recommend Mommy friendly outfits, not necessarily nursing friendly but the ones that don’t wrinkle easily, are laundry machine friendly, and functional and comfortable. Would love more capsule clothing. I don’t wear heels, I’d topple when I chase my kids, and trench coats are not useful in the rain because it doesn’t have hoods, I live in Tieks. I also don’t like it when products show the logos, would like to have leather products that don’t look as if I need the validation from a brand. I’ll have to duck and hide if my friends see me carrying a Chanel bag or wearing a Burberry trench. The past jackpots for me were the Ann Taylor coats, I love how I can just throw them over the leggings that I wore to bed the night before, put on the Tieks and ready to drop off my kids at school.
Just wanted to say ditto on the mommy friendly outfits! It would be great if you could do a post on cute and comfy things to wear to the park with your kids.

Hi Diana! My waist and hips measure 24″ and 32″ respectively. I’m usually a 00 or 24 in jeans, and find these to fit true to size but note the higher rise hits at my navel and is a snug fit on me.

Could you please represent the color of your clothes as they actually are rather than the prettiest Photoshopped color? The color on your blog (talking about the Everlane T shirt) often looks better than the color on the retailer’s website. You always lose my sale when you do that. I know you only like the comments about how pretty you look (which always come with a plug for their own blog) but some of us just want some good clothes suggestions and not an opportunity to grow your business.
I am always open to constructive feedback, so there was really no need for your snarkiness here.
I make my best effort to represent the items accurately, but getting an image down to an exact color is often out of my control due to lighting, camera used, and other factors. When my husband edits my photos, I have the exact items laid out next to him so he can adjust the best he can to the true shade. Sometimes the color in the retailer photo is the one that is off. The Everlane T-shirt looks pretty close to me.
I just wanted to comment as a non-blogger, that Jean you look very pretty and your response was very respectful despite this unnecessarily rude comment.

Wow, that was uncalled for. If you’re that concerned about getting the color right, you shouldn’t be doing any online shopping because there’s no guarantee you’ll get the EXACT color/fit/style/etc you want.
