Jacket reviews // Affordable cozy lined parka in 6 colors

rose pink utility army jacket petite parka

If you love utility jackets and are looking for a winterized version, this affordable option from H&M comes in 6 colors with hundreds of good reviews! Cozy features include a shearling-like “pile” lining along the torso (not at the sleeves), and the hood has a removable fluffy faux fur trim. If you want something different from the usual green and black utility jacket, the dusty rose option is very pretty against the beige faux fur and gold hardware.

And on the topic of “pile,” if you have a little one, these pile bear coveralls (also in “natural”) are amazing! I probably ordered similar furry bear suits from 5 different brands before finding the best one that’s easy to wiggle baby in and out of (thank you, FULL length zipper), super warm, and nice quality. I love the foldable mitt (a little long on her arms) and footie flaps and the cotton lining. Nori is always toasty when we take her out of this after a stroll in frigid temps, and she often dozes off in it.

Other features of this jacket include adjustable drawstrings at the waist and bottom, zipper + snap front closure, a slightly lower dipped back hem, and front pockets that can be accessed from either the side or top. It’s labeled as a parka, but I found it to be more of a warm jacket and not heavy like a true dead-of-winter parka (such as this weighty LOFT option).

Fit-wise, H&M usually runs a little small, and their sizes shifted down in recent years so I used to wear a 2 and am now a 0 there. Size 0 in this fit well on me with the sleeves being a tad long. Note I am trying on size 2 in the rose and green, and size 0 in the black.

Faux Fur jacket with pockets XS

I also saw this very soft faux fur jacket that’s slightly reminiscent of a longer jacket I have. Color is beige with a feminine hint of light pink. I love the luxe look of jackets like this paired with trousers or ankle pants, or a dressier ensemble for cocktail attire. Size XS is slightly big on me. I couldn’t find this one in stores, but how fun is this spotted faux fur option!

Faux shearling moto jacket sz 0 (also in black)

I can’t find this jacket online at the moment (saw it earlier!), but there were a couple at the Boston Newbury St store in size 0. This edgier jacket is currently on sale and features a plush faux shearling lining all around the torso in addition to at the generous collar and cuffs.

Biker jacket size 2 in dusky rose (also in black)

I’m on a rose kick and was hoping this jacket would be the perfect addition pre-spring, but I wasn’t in love with the material. The color was beautiful and the jacket was warm, but the fabric is a “felted” material whereas I’d prefer something textured or leather-like. I’m trying on size 2 (smallest that was in store) and the sleeves are very long on me – a 0 would fit better on someone similarly sized.

Hey! I found the jacket but it’s only in black online. It is on sale. https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0527687007.html

I hope that works but it’s the Tiffany Young collection. I’m hoping it’s the right one.

  3. I saw you mentioned you’re ISO a rose/blush jacket. I saw this one by BLANKNYC (“Candy Crush,” the blush color, is even on sale!) and thought of you: https:/www.amazon.com/BLANKNYC-Womens-Jacket-Outerwear-Morning/dp/B07BJ2JCTK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1547532802&sr=8-5&keywords=blank%2Bnyc&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=merrickxmas2017-20&linkId=dea31b4a57e23d0643c8c422a811566e&language=en_US&psc=

Hi Jean, thanks for the affordable options! Petite coats are so hard to find. Did you think the fur on the hood looked cheap or good quality? Hard to tell in pictures. Thanks!

Hi Lindsay! I thought the faux fur on the hood looked fair for the price. It didn’t stand out to me as bad looking as sometimes faux fur gone wrong does.

Thank you sharing your thoughts on all these jackets and coats, Jean! I think I’ll get the LOFT one you shared. Wow it looks like they’re almost completely sold out in the vintage garland color.

  8. Since I bike to school, parka’s like the ones you show here are just perfect for me. I would always chose a lighter colour in winter, since the days are often dark and grey anyway and on my bike (or when crossing a street) I am more visible when wearing light colours. Love, Lieske

  12. Thank you for showing us so many different styles! I love the parka, but my favourite coat from this post is the faux fur jacket. I’ve been wanting a teddy bear-esque fluffy jacket for the longest time now. It looks so warm and cosy!
